About the Firm

A consulting firm built for the organizations that matter most, and held to a higher standard because of it.

DrS Consulting Group is a senior-led management consulting practice based in the Denver metro, working nationwide with purpose-led organizations whose mission and operating reality have moved out of step.

Why the firm exists.

Most management consulting is sold to organizations that already have the runway to absorb a mediocre engagement. We chose a harder client base on purpose. Mission-driven mid-market companies, nonprofits, healthcare organizations and public-sector-adjacent groups cannot afford a polished deck that does not lead to a real change in how the work gets done. They need senior, plain-spoken help that takes their mission seriously and their operating constraints just as seriously.

That is the gap DrS Consulting Group is built for. A Denver-based, Black-owned firm that brings senior consulting capability to organizations that historically have been served either by under-resourced generalists or by name-brand firms whose model is built for somebody else's economics.

What we do.

Three intersecting disciplines: leadership development, change and implementation, and operating discipline. They overlap because the problems do. A nonprofit that just doubled in size after a major grant rarely has a clean leadership problem in isolation. A healthcare system trying to integrate a new service line rarely has a clean operations problem in isolation. We work the whole picture because the whole picture is what the client is actually living in.

The thing we want to be known for is not a framework. It is the way the work runs. We listen first. We say what we actually think. We carry load through the messy middle of an engagement rather than disappearing after kickoff. And we leave when the capability is sitting inside the client.

What we will not do.

There are a handful of things we have decided we are not in the business of, in any size of engagement:

  • We do not staff engagements with juniors. Every project is led and delivered by senior practitioners with executive operating experience. That is the deliberate trade-off behind the model.
  • We do not run perpetual retainers. Every engagement has a defined exit. If the capability is not transferring to the client, the engagement is failing whether or not the invoices are still being paid.
  • We do not write strategy decks the organization cannot execute. If we cannot see how a recommendation gets delivered, we do not make the recommendation.
  • We do not preach. Purpose-led does not mean ideological. Our clients have their own mission and their own theory of change. Our job is to make them better at delivering it, not to add ours on top.

How we are set up.

The firm runs out of the Denver metro and works with organizations across the United States. Discovery and most working sessions are remote by default, leadership cohorts, advisory sessions, executive coaching, working groups, to keep travel out of the client's budget. In-person time is built in where it earns its keep: leadership offsites, cohort kickoffs, sensitive stakeholder sessions, full-day strategy work.

Senior consultants are the only consultants. There is no associate pyramid, no leveraging model, no "your engagement partner will not actually be on the calls." The trade-off is that we hold a tight portfolio of clients at any one moment. The benefit is that the people you brief on day one are the people on every working session for the duration.

Confidentiality, by default.

Coaching is confidential. Diagnostics are private. Client names do not appear on this website. If we work together and you decide later that a public reference would be useful to your organization, we will discuss it on its own merits at that point. Until then, your engagement is yours.

Working with us.

Every relationship starts the same way: a thirty-minute call, no obligation. You describe what you are trying to build or change. We say honestly whether the work is in our lane, what we would suggest as an entry point, and where we think you would be better served by someone else. If a diagnostic makes sense from there, we scope one. If it does not, you have not lost anything but half an hour and you have a clearer view of what to do next.
